Abstract
In the context of the ongoing digital transformation in education, the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) tools into teaching practices has become an inevitable trend. This study investigates the potential application of Claude AI in Chinese language lesson design and proposes a workflow for utilizing this tool to support instructors in developing instructional materials more efficiently. Employing an experimental research approach combined with case study analysis, the study evaluates the extent to which Claude AI can assist in various stages of lesson preparation, including content design, exercise development, flashcard creation, review activity design, and the generation of visual learning resources. The findings indicate that integrating Claude AI into the lesson design process not only enhances the diversity and attractiveness of instructional materials but also significantly reduces teachers’ preparation time. However, the effectiveness of this application largely depends on the quality of prompt engineering and the instructor’s ability to review, refine, and adapt AI-generated content to ensure its accuracy and alignment with educational objectives. The study provides a valuable reference for the application of AI in foreign language instructional design, particularly in Chinese language teaching, within the context of digital education.
