Abstract
This study applies Geographic Information Systems (GIS) to develop a soil map of the new An Giang Province following the merger of the former An Giang and Kien Giang provinces, with the aim of supporting geography teaching and learning. Data sources included existing soil maps, administrative boundary data, and relevant specialized documents. The study employed data standardization, field surveys, GIS-based data processing, and cartographic editing using MapInfo software. The resulting product is a soil map at a scale of 1:1,000,000, accompanied by an integrated spatial and attribute database that represents the distribution of soil groups within the new administrative boundaries. The map provides an accessible and reliable visual resource for analyzing local soil characteristics and spatial patterns. It can be effectively used in local geography education, helping teachers design learning activities and enabling students to develop map-reading, spatial analysis, and geographical inquiry skills.
