Abstract
This study was conducted from March to May 2026 at selected veterinary clinics in Bac Lieu Ward, Ca Mau Province, Vietnam, to identify factors associated with the prevalence of endoparasitic infections in dogs. Fecal samples from 98 dogs were examined using the Fülleborn flotation technique to detect gastrointestinal parasite eggs. The overall prevalence of endoparasitic infection was 57.14%. Ancylostoma spp. was the most prevalent parasite, followed by Toxocara canis and Trichuris vulpis. Statistical analysis indicated that age, management system, and breed were significantly associated with infection prevalence (p < .05). Puppies younger than six months, free-ranging or semi-free-ranging dogs, and indigenous breeds had significantly higher infection rates than their respective comparison groups. In contrast, sex was not significantly associated with infection prevalence (p > .05). These findings provide epidemiological evidence to support the development of effective measures for preventing, controlling, and managing canine endoparasitic infections, thereby contributing to improved companion animal health in the study area.
