Abstract

In the context of climate change and the growing trend toward sustainable development, green finance has become an important orientation for Vietnam’s banking system. This paper analyzes the legal framework for green finance in several countries and in Vietnam, while examining the implementation practices of commercial banks through green credit, sustainable bond issuance, and Environment, Social and Governance (ESG) disclosure. The study shows that banks such as VPBank and BIDV have proactively integrated corporate social responsibility into their business strategies. However, the development of green finance still faces challenges related to legal frameworks, ESG data, and risk management mechanisms. Therefore, the paper proposes several solutions to promote green finance associated with sustainable development in Vietnam.
